RECENT WORK:
Resilient Cities
Grids are often found in my work. Recent exposure to events in cities are the undercurrent of the grids seen in my most recent work. From often needless demolitions; to poor planning and design; to earthquakes; storms; and worse, senseless war; cites morph. Cities and towns will struggle to continue and reform themselves in new ways.
From Berlin, Paris, New York, to San Francisco, New Orleans, Christchurch and Napier the remarkable resilience of cities and those who build them is awesome.

WORK FROM OTHER SERIES
Long Walk Series:
For centuries we have known people are forced into migrating. There are many images of displaced people lining up for help to survive. Sometimes displaced by war, other times floods, earthquakes, and storms. This work began during the Rwandan refugee crises. It is hard to imagine the personal and community fall out from various forms of catastrophic devastation. People, their towns and cities, prove to be resilient and often absorb to survive unspeakable loss and hardship. My close observation of the Christchurch devastation gives me pause to believe in the remarkable ability to re build and re energize a city, town or village. Hope brings people together and hope enables people to carry on for the future ahead.

Fragments Series
These metal pieces have been pickup of the sidewalks and trails of many cities. They are in a state of decay yet each still holds something magical about a shape, colour, texture and put together become something different, bigger than themselves.
Moons Series;
I happened to be on a plane coming towards Toronto when the pilot, who had been quiet, suddenly announced. "Look out to the right and you will see the moon". Well there was a glorious full red moon on the horizon. That moment reawakened me to the ideas pursued in this series. I considered the fact this pilot would often see the moon and sun at their most spectacular and yet he was still enchanted by it.
